Artists fascinated by the luminous Mediterranean light and the beauty of the Provencal countryside found in our region an ideal place to exercise their passion.

In the middle of the XIXth century, fallen under its spell or impact, these decorative painters were the pioneers of a new art.

First there were the naturalists, followed by those who would mark a turning point in the history of art.
